About Emil Popescu

He worked for many years in insurance as a branch manager, where he was responsible for risk analysis and managing partnerships with brokers. However, everything changed after he attended a professional wine tasting—the moment he realized he wanted to devote more time to the fascinating world of wine and those who truly appreciate it.

He attended the prestigious British Wine and Spirits Education Trust (WSET) and obtained Level 3 certification, an advanced level in wine education (Level 4 being the final level, available only in London, with physical attendance at courses and exams).

Noticing that many of the tastings in the city were more profit-oriented than educational and passionate, he decided to create a space dedicated to learning about quality wine through themed tastings. This is how our business was born, a wine shop that transforms itself once or twice a week into a real wine club, where enthusiasts gather to discover carefully selected wines.

To date, we have organized over 100 tasting events, featuring iconic wines such as Champagne Philipponnat Clos des Goisses, Cobos, Catena Zapata Argentino, Tignanello, and many others.

Sparkling wine tasting (Cava versus Champagne vs Prosecco)/2-10 people

The tasting includes:

• professional guidance from a sommelier
• 5 labels of sparkling wines obtained through different methods (Champenoise, Charmat, or ancestral)
• wine shop location with tasting area in Floreasca
• Duration: 2-4 hours

The purpose of this experience is to explore the main styles of sparkling wine, understand the differences between the methods used to obtain the bubbles that provide the wonderful effervescence, the quality factors and aging potential, or the optimal moment for consumption.

Chablis tasting/2-10 people

The tasting includes:

• professional guidance from a sommelier
• 5 different carefully selected Chablis labels, including at least one Grand Cru
• wine shop location with tasting area in Floreasca
• Duration: 2-4 hours

The purpose of this experience is to go through the main styles of Chablis and observe the differences between a Grand Cru and a generic wine, to observe the differences between a Chardonnay aged in stainless steel and one aged in oak barrels, as well as to highlight the qualities of Chablis wine compared to Chardonnays from other areas of the world.

Champagne tasting/2-10 people

The tasting includes:

• professional guidance from a sommelier
• 5 different carefully selected Champagne labels, including at least one Grand Cru
• wine shop location with tasting area in Floreasca
• duration: 2-4 hours

The purpose of this experience is to explore the main styles of Champagne and observe the differences between a Grand Cru and a generic wine, to observe the differences between Brut and Non Dose or the differences between 1 or 3 years of aging on lees, as well as to highlight the qualities of champagne.

Bordeaux tasting/2-10 people

The tasting includes:

• professional guidance from a sommelier
• 5 carefully selected Bordeaux red wines
• wine shop location with tasting area in Floreasca
• Duration: 2-4 hours

The purpose of this experience is to explore the main regions and quality classifications of Bordeaux and to understand the quality factors that make this appellation the most famous in the world.
