Spend a long weekend away from the hustle and bustle of the city. If you are a sporty nature and you like water and mountains in the same measure, we challenge you to do Stand Up Paddle in the most beautiful place in Romania.
Stand up paddle is a derivative of surfing, which originated in Hawaii. Unlike traditional surfing, in which the athlete waits until the wave pushes the board, stand up paddle boarders use a paddle to propel themselves into the water.
Stand up paddle as a sport was first mentioned in 2013, with most of the athletes practicing it present in the US. Variations of the sport include elements such as yoga, lake racing, paddling on ocean waves and even fishing.
This trip is for beginners who have already practiced Stand Up Paddle and know how to balance, paddle and turn the board.
Are you curious what it's like to paddle stand up paddle through 300m high keys or through a cave?
The experience starts from Friday directly on the Danube, with a course in a quiet estuary. Although you will be accompanied on the Danube by a dinghy, you will do a refresher course on the first evening where you will learn new elements of river SUP, to increase safety and ease communication on the expedition.
In the evening you will spend the night near the Danube and on Saturday morning you will start crossing the Danube gorge - about 12 km. You will explore from the water the majestic Danube Cauldrons, caves and museums along this route. Here, the banks of the Danube become almost vertical walls, which narrow the river so much that the water depth exceeds 100 meters. The form of SUP on the Danube is one of speed exploration, and because of the high river flow you will be constantly moved by the current.
On Saturday evening you will spend the night next to the Nera and on Sunday morning you will explore the Nera Gorges for about 6 km. Here the Nera has formed the most beautiful gorge in the Carpathians. In the Glets Nerei, the SUP form is relaxing, with stretches of River SUP and, depending on the flow, on some short stretches you will get off the board to cross the shallow water. You'll then visit the Beiusnita and Bigar waterfalls and return to Bucharest in the evening. Here you'll be surrounded by forests and rocky mountains, but don't be scared, it's an easy way, most of the trail is for relaxing paddling.
We consider that practical Experiences are the essence of great memories so we invite you on our blog to read about the advantages of purchasing an experience rather than a material gift.
